New Zealand Owned and Operated. Rockshop is a family owned, local business founded in 1986 by the current Managing Director, Mick Webb. Our first retail store opened on Karangahape Road, Auckland where 4 flagships stores are still operating today. Now with 30 wholly owned retail stores (which includes our sister stores KBB Music), we have grown to be the largest national retail chain of musical gear in Aotearoa, New Zealand. We have stores across the motu – from Whangarei to Dunedin, with our newest store opening in Queenstown. We also have an online e-ecommerce store where you can have your gear delivered to your doorstep or click and collect from your local store. You can find your local store here and connect with your local store manager – they would love to hear from you! Our Mission: Best Prices, Best Service, Best Products. Rockshop opened its doors with a simple mission, to provide New Zealanders with the Best Prices, Best Service and Best Products in the music industry. We went about this by establishing strong working relationships with the best musical brands in the world, importing the best products and selling direct to our customers to try to achieve the best prices. Widest Selection of Gear. Rockshop caters for all music lovers with our core categories being – Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Piano & Keyboards, Recording, Live Production, DJ Gear, Orchestral and Print Music. We have dedicated Product Managers who select the very best gear to give our customers a wide choice no matter where they are in their musical journey: from the beginner picking up their first guitar or the professional musician rocking out on stage. Our gear also caters to a wide range of musical genres - whether you play rock, indie, pop, hip hop, heavy metal, electronic, blues, classical or anything in between – we have you covered. We All Speak Music. We believe in the ability for music to bring people together, no matter what your background or beliefs. We understand music’s power to inspire, connect and transform lives. We welcome music lovers to come into one of our stores, try out the gear and speak music with our staff. Our staff are all musicians and deeply passionate about the music industry. We love to connect with the community and share our passion, knowledge and expertise. Support for our Community. We believe community holds great significance in our industry where connections are made that create a sense of belonging and enable creative partnerships. Check out our Community page to get amongst it – post an ad for a bandmate, advertise music lessons, put a notice out about stolen gear, meet our awesome team or get to know our talented Rockshop ambassadors. We also recognise our responsibility to give back to the communities that have embraced us. We aim to support the next generation of musicians and enrich lives. We are proud supporters of organisations who are doing great things in our music community, including Smokefree Rockquest, Rockshop Bandquest, Tangata Beats, PlayItStrange, Eliette’s Music Academy, Music Helps and Raukatauri Music Therapy. Check out our We Support page for more information. You may be asked in store if you would like to purchase a paper bag with your purchase for 50 cents. We donate ALL proceeds (that’s the full 50 cents ex GST) from the sale to a deserving cause. All proceeds are currently going to Music Helps to help fund the important work they do in our musical community. We thank all of our customers for their past and future donations. Connect with Us. If you’d like to talk to someone about finding the right gear for you, we’d love to hear from you. You can get in contact with someone from your local store or use our Ask An Expert function on our website to connect you with an expert. If you see a better price on a product we sell, we can and will match it on nearly any product from nearly any retailer - put us to the test with our Price Challenge. If you’ve had an experience with us that you’d like to share or have recently purchased a product that you’d like to review – we’d love you to leave us some feedback via our independent third-party review partner, Trust Pilot.
