Living Simply is an outdoor clothing and equipment specialty store that began in Wellington in the 1979. It was conceptualised and run by Neil Newman who was originally involved with the EPI Centre environmental group. Neil retired in 2007 and closed his Jackson St shop in Petone. Our current store was opened in Auckland on Broadway, Newmarket in 1988 by Mark Sinclair a former school teacher and Neil’s brother in law. Living Simply has always been an owner operated, family run business. With over 35 years of outdoor retail experience, and the only independent outdoor retailer in Auckland we offer a highly specialised level of service and expertise. Current owner and managing director, Ben Sinclair has been involved in the business, and the outdoors from an early age, with vivid memories of multi day tramps in spectacular national parks around New Zealand with his mum, dad and three siblings. He now enjoys sharing this experience with his young family. He continues to impart his knowledge to customers and to our current team of outdoor enthusiasts who bring their own expertise and experience from many hours on the trail.
