Our Kiwi owned and operated family business is steeped in history. From the development of New Zealand’s first dishwasher in the 1940s, to the introduction of rangehoods in the 1970s and the phenomenon of microwaves in the 1980s, the origin companies of Kitchen Things have been at the forefront of home appliance innovation for decades. Our Founder, Mark Jones, worked his way remarkably quickly up the ranks of Foodtown supermarkets in the 1970s before playing a key role in the success of the iconic Georgie Pie brand. Mark then set his ambitions on the appliance industry in the 1980s. Kitchen ‘N’ Things (our original name) began as a series of small stores across Auckland. Our premium European appliances set a new industry standard and we quickly became a high-profile, trusted brand and source of inspiration for Kiwi families, designers and homeowners. As we took our offerings nationwide, we grew alongside New Zealand into the new era of kitchens; these spaces have transformed from small scullery-style rooms by the back door to sunlight-filled hubs that are just as much for entertainment and special family moments as they are for cooking and practicality. We are now expanding into quality laundry solutions and small appliances, and we look forward to further enhancing Kiwi homes in those spaces. Mark Jones is now Founding Chair and his daughter Rachel Louie operates as Managing Director. She lives and breathes the business, and along with a strong advisory board and senior team, brings a wealth of knowledge and commitment to the next generation of Kitchen Things.
